Governance and trustees

Kal Khalique

Kal is a Londoner and speaks two Bangladeshi languages. She visits Bangladesh regularly and lived in Dhaka for three years.

She trained as a UK architect whilst producing fashion shows to raise funds for the Leukaemia Research Fund and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Following some years working for design and communications consultancies she moved client-side to work at Cinven, a leading international private equity firm, as Head of Marketing for 12 years.

Kal oversees all charity operations, project origination, fundraising, project management, governance and budgets. She has also attended the UK Charity Commission's course for charities working internationally.

Rounaque Khalique

Rounaque is based in Bangladesh and the UK. She studied Economics and Psychology in London and is a qualified global tutor. She has been a translator and teacher in the London Bengali community for over 30 years, working with the NHS, Social Services and the Immigration Department. She is also currently providing voluntary psychotherapy counselling services to a London charity.

Rounaque assesses requirements for the workers once we have identified which candidates we want to support. She oversees education and training requirements. She has also attended the UK Charity Commission's course for charities working internationally.

Runu Miah

Runu is a UK based entrepreneur and accountant. He has been running his own practice since 2002, looking after the accounting functions of many small to medium sized businesses, both in the UK and internationally, covering all aspects of business.

He worked with both Charles and Maurice Saatchi before setting up his own practice. Runu now runs a team of seven with over 450 clients.

He is the financial and legal controller of the foundation, preparing all accounts and ensuring regulatory compliance is adhered to.

The Team

Paul Foley

After studying Psychology at Oxford, Paul worked in advertising and marketing in London before relocating to Asia Pacific. There he ran his own consultancy delivering sustainability projects helping local communities protect their resources and develop their livelihoods.

He worked with a variety of international NGOs and government ministries in the Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar. He returned to work in the UK in sustainable finance.

Paul oversees all strategy, communications and proposals.

Mohammed Abdul Khalique

He is based in Bangladesh and the UK. He has worked with the Bengali community both in the UK and Bangladesh and received a lifetime award for services to the Bengali community. He is donating premises in Dhaka for the pilot phase.

Mohammed will manage community relationships in Bangladesh and the UK and will be in charge of fundraising amongst the diaspora in the UK.

Siddika Khalique

Siddika is a British news journalist. She has worked for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, the Daily Mail, the Independent and the Evening Standard. She was also a presenter at the UK based satellite channel Bangla TV.

Siddika oversees all PR and media. She has also attended the UK Charity Commission's course for charities working internationally.

Meera Shah

Meera is a London-based corporate relations professional. After studying International Management and Spanish, she has worked for the private sector and volunteered for different charities both in the UK and abroad. Today, she works full time for a FTSE 100 company and spends her free time providing governance to a school in East London and supporting a number of immigration and women-focused charities.

Meera supports the Foundation on Strategy, Marketing & Communications, Product Design and Fundraising.
